From the beginning I knew that I wanted to return to Corpus Christi. After graduating from Corpus Christi in 1990 and then St. Joseph High School in 1994, and finally Indiana University of South Bend in 1998, I happily returned to teach middle school language arts. One of my proudest moments thus far has been winning the Light of Learning Award in 2009. This is my 15th year at Corpus Christi and each year, just as the children grow as students, I grow as a teacher. My curriculum is based on the Common Core and the Indiana State Standards.  I want my students to leave Corpus Christi with the necessary skills to be successful in high school and the practical skills in reading, writing, and speaking that they will utilize in their daily and career lives in the future.

I try to differentiate my teaching as much as possible. From note-taking to game playing, I attempt to make language arts challenging yet attainable. To view one of my favorite units click here.

Beyond being a teacher, I have a large family of seven siblings and seven nieces and nephews. Although I have no children of my own, I have a rabbit named Banana Split. She is a unique bunny who enjoys eating bananas like a monkey, playing tug-o-war and growling like a dog, and cleaning and purring like a cat.

Like many people, I have a collection. Since I was twelve, I have been collecting Barbies. One of my favorite hobbies, however, is napping. I can sleep for hours anywhere, anytime.
